I'm a Silvergate member; can I host my wedding reception in the Ballroom?. All Silvergate members are free to host their wedding receptions, and any other parties, in the Silvergate Ballroom. However, it is impossible to shut that room off, and members of the public may come through and interrupt your celebration. If privacy is very important to you, another room in the Inn may be suitable.
How do I schedule the Ballroom for my reception? To schedule the Ballroom, please contact Lady Brownyng, and include the date and time you wish to reserve the Ballroom, as well as the full name of both the bride and groom. Only one wedding is scheduled in the Ballroom a day, and you'll be informed of the availability when you send in your reservation.
What does it cost? Members are not charged rental fees to use the Ballroom. As long as at least one of the couple is a Silvergate member, all fees will be waived.
Can Non-Members rent the Ballroom? Non-members can rent the Ballroom, with some conditions. Non-members must have a member sponsor them, who must contact Lady Brownyng with the reservation information, as stated above. Non-members are required to pay a nominal 5000 silver charge for exclusive use of the Ballroom, which must be delivered to a House officer before the date will be reserved.
What does Ballroom rental include? The Ballroom is equipped with dance commands and mood messaging.
What about food and drink trays? Food and drink can be arranged, but it must be done through the gods, and it is not always a "sure thing". Lady Brownyng at one point was arranging for trays for members' weddings. Unfortunately, that privilege was abused (many members did not pay for their trays, forcing Brownyng to cover the 25,000 silver cost out of her own pocket) and she no longer will do that. If you would like to contact Lord Wolv, he may be able to arrange for food for your wedding. If you cannot get a tray, you may bring in your own food, but we prefer that you put it in chests or sacks on the floor, rather than just dumping it in the middle of the floor, which clutters the room.
I'd love to have an Assembly for my wedding ceremony! Can I use the Performance Hall? The Silvergate Performance Hall can be rented for private functions such as wedding ceremonies. There is a podium in the Hall which will allow officers to toggle the assembly on and off, thus minimizing distractions during your wedding ceremony. The room is lockable as well, if you want to control the numbers of people who enter. However, the podium can only be operated by an officer, so officers must must be present to both open the room and operate the Podium. Due to the fact that an officer must arrange to be present for your wedding, a donation to the House of 25,000 silvers is required to use the Performance Hall, no matter the membership status of the couple. If you are interested in using the Performance Hall, please contact Lady Brownyng.
Are there other places in Silvergate to host ceremonies or receptions? There are many rooms in Silvergate that are perfect for smaller ceremonies and receptions. In the public areas, we have the Dining Room and Lion's Den Pub. (The Dining Room has the advantage of providing food, though for a fee.) There are also five private rentable rooms and five private tables for small, intimate ceremonies. In the private areas of the Inn, the beautiful Fountain Courtyard would make a lovely wedding or reception site, as would the House Library. Two new lounges are soon to open, and Lady Brownyng has even been known to host receptions for friends in her apartments!
Can I reserve the Bridal Suite for my honeymoon? Unfortunately, no. None of the rentable rooms are available for reservation. They are on a "first-come, first-served" basis. The only way to reserve a room is to get there early!
